Layouts

Included community layouts, a clean chart to start, autosave, undo and redo, and indicator templates.

A layout is the arrangement of panes with everything in them: each chart’s market, interval, chart type, studies, drawings and colours, the ladder and book settings, link groups and the watchlist. Flowscope stores it as JSON.

Starting a layout

On first launch, Flowscope opens one BTCUSDT perpetual candlestick chart at 15m, with volume below and no background grid. Create new layout… starts with the same simple chart, using the market and interval of your current chart. It does not copy its studies or drawings. Your existing layouts and watchlist stay available.

Add pane adds one chart or widget to the open layout. For a complete workspace, choose Layouts → Community layouts. Four layouts by Flowscope are included, with no sign-in or catalog download required:

LayoutWhat it opens
Liquidity & executionA large 1m Binance BTCUSDT perpetual heatmap with trade bubbles and book profile, alongside a linked DOM and tape
Footprint deskA large 5m bid × ask footprint with CVD, bar statistics, VWAP and visible-range volume profile, plus a 30m context chart
Market profileDaily TPO sessions with 30-minute letters, value area, POC and initial balance, plus a 15m chart with VWAP and volume profile
BTC & ETH momentumBinance BTCUSDT and ETHUSDT perpetual charts at 15m, each with volume, CVD and open interest

Each opens as a new, private, editable copy. Context charts and the BTC/ETH comparison are unlinked, so changing a market or interval does not overwrite their different roles. The liquidity chart, DOM and tape share one market link. These are analysis workspaces, with no automated trading strategy attached.

Developer and load-test presets remain available through FLOWSCOPE_PRESET; see Settings.

Named layouts

The layout menu on the right of the top bar manages your layouts.

ItemWhat it does
Save layoutWrites the current panes to the open layout (Ctrl+S)
AutosaveWhen on, every change is written to the open layout as you work
Make a copy…Saves the current panes under a new name
Rename…Renames the open layout
Delete layout…Deletes the open layout; click a second time to confirm
Create new layout…Starts a clean candlestick chart with volume on the current market and interval
LayoutsEvery saved layout with a short summary (its first chart and how many charts it has). Click to open; star to keep it at the top; right-click to delete

You cannot delete the last remaining layout. With autosave off, the layout name in the top bar shows • while there are unsaved changes.

Tip

Autosave is on by default. Turn it off if you want to experiment and keep a known-good layout, then save explicitly with Ctrl+S.

Community layouts

Community layouts at the top of the layouts menu opens the four included Flowscope layouts and layouts other traders share. Search by name or description, order by Popular (most opened) or Newest, and filter by what a layout shows: footprint, heatmap, TPO, DOM, tape, several charts, all venues, scripts. Each card draws the layout’s panes; pick one to see what is inside, then Open as new layout. It arrives as a copy among your layouts and becomes the open one; your layouts and your watchlist stay as they are. Browsing needs no account. The included layouts remain available if the community service is unavailable. Popular/Newest sorts community publications; the included collection keeps its curated order.

Sharing your own

Every layout is private: only you see it, on your devices. To share one:

  1. Open it and choose Share with the community… in the layouts menu (or Share my layout… in the community window). When you create a layout or make a copy you can also pick Public, which brings up the same dialog right after.
  2. Set Who sees it to Public, add a description, and decide whether your drawings go along.
  3. Check What goes out and press Share publicly.

A shared layout never includes your watchlist, accounts, alerts or keys. Scripts on its charts are shared as their code.

What the community sees is a copy. Changes you make to the layout stay yours until you send them: the menu says changed next to Shared publicly…, and Send new version in that dialog publishes them. Stop sharing (in the dialog, or on your layout in the community window under Mine) takes the copy down; layouts others already opened stay theirs. Sharing needs an account.

Undo and redo

Every change to the layout is an undo step: adding or closing a pane, changing an interval, moving a drawing, editing a study. Flowscope compares the layout every 400 ms while the pointer is idle and keeps the last 60 steps.

ActionKeys
UndoCtrl+Z
RedoCtrl+Y or Ctrl+Shift+Z

On macOS use Cmd instead of Ctrl. Undo, redo and opening a layout rebuild the panes, but every chart keeps its scroll position and zoom.

Indicator templates

A template is a saved set of studies with all their inputs and styles. Apply it to any chart in one click.

  • Save: open the templates button next to Indicators and choose Save indicator template…, or Save chart as template… under Templates in the indicator dialog. The suggested name is always a new one; saving under an existing name replaces that template and keeps its star. A chart without indicators cannot be saved.
  • Apply: click a template in the same menu, or under Templates in the indicator dialog. Its indicators replace the chart’s own; Shift+click (or + in the dialog) adds them beside. A message names the chart it went to, and Ctrl+Z undoes it.
  • Which chart: templates go to the active chart. While an order book, DOM or tape is active, they go to the chart that was active last.
  • On chart: the template the chart shows now has a check mark in the menu and an On chart badge in the dialog.
  • Star a template to list it first. Update takes the chart’s current indicators into it; Delete asks for a second click.

Templates are preferences, not part of a layout, so they are available in every layout.

What is stored where

Layouts and preferences are kept separately. Both are repaired on load, so a value written by an older version never stops the app; an unreadable entry is replaced by its default and a warning is logged.

On the desktop these live in flowscope/store in your data directory, one file each. In the browser they live in localStorage for the page’s origin.

Several windows or tabs

You can open Flowscope in several browser tabs or desktop windows at once.

  • Layouts, settings, scripts, alerts and AI chats are shared. What you change in one window reaches the others within a second. If two windows changed different things, both changes are kept: a layout you made in one window and a setting you changed in another both stay. Each window keeps showing its own layout; a new window opens the layout you used last.
  • One window trades. Paper and live trading, price alerts and syncing with your account run in one window only, so an order is never sent twice and an alert never rings twice. The other windows show Second window at the bottom; click Trade here to move trading to that window. Your paper account moves with it, exactly as it was.
  • Closing or hiding the trading window. When it closes (or crashes) another window takes over within a second or two. In the browser, a tab in the background is paused by the browser, so after a few seconds a visible tab takes over trading.

TradingView, by comparison, lets one layout open in several tabs overwrite the others and recommends saving by hand in each tab.

Note

Signed in, layouts sync to your account, and you can share one with other traders: Layouts menu › Share with the community. Community layouts in the same menu lists what others shared.
