# T101

> type mismatch

**Severity** Error

A value of one type is used where another type is required: a string passed as a number, a float assigned to a `string` state, a color where a bool is expected and so on. Flowscope Script never converts between unrelated types implicitly.

Pass a value of the expected type, or convert explicitly with `int(x)`, `float(x)` or `string(x)`. The message names both the expected and the actual type.

## Failing example

```flowscope
script "Thick VWAP"
data chart = subscribe(data.ohlcv)
plot vwap = plot.line(title: "VWAP", color: color.poc, width: "3")
on chart.close {
  vwap.plot(ta.vwap(chart))
}
```

## Fixed example

```flowscope
script "Thick VWAP"
data chart = subscribe(data.ohlcv)
plot vwap = plot.line(title: "VWAP", color: color.poc, width: 3)
on chart.close {
  vwap.plot(ta.vwap(chart))
}
```
